As a Kuoni Partner Store, we can add the experience of the specialist team at Kuoni to the knowledge of our own personal travel experts to advise you on an amazing African holiday, no matter where you choose to visit. Between our team in store and our friends at Kuoni, we’ve seen and done a lot of incredible things all across Africa. From cage diving with sharks in South Africa and sandboarding in Namibia, to hot-air ballooning in the Maasai Mara and canoeing past crocs in Botswana’s Okavango Delta – we can recommend memorable experiences that will make your time in Africa truly unforgettable.

Maasai Mara, Kenya

Kenya, South Africa and Tanzania are consistently three of the vast continent’s most popular destinations to visit -  and with good reason. Kenya and Tanzania have Indian Ocean beach resorts to rival the white sands of the Maldives and Mauritius, while South Africa boast spectacular coastal scenery and hundreds of celebrated vineyards. And, of course, all three countries have fantastic safari opportunities; see the Big Five in Kenya’s famous Maasai Mara and South Africa’s Kruger National Park or gather for the great migration of wildebeest across the plains of the Serengeti.

South Africa is a great destination for UK travellers as a similar time zone means no jet lag! It’s also surprisingly affordable, you can dine out on the great food and wine that the country is famous for without breaking the bank. Cape Town is a must for first-time visitors to South Africa, the cosmopolitan city boasts an impressive array of excellent hotels including a new wave of luxury accommodation. Ask our experts for their recommendations. There’s so much to do in Cape Town – head to the top of Table Mountain, visit Robben Island and don’t miss the penguins at Boulders Beach. Drive the spectacular Garden Route for landscapes that will take your breath away, plentiful vineyard stops and brilliant whale-watching opportunities. History lovers should head to Kwazulu Natal where some of the most famous battles in British colonial history took place.

Serengeti, Tanzania

Less crowded than its neighbour, Kenya, but with a slightly higher price tag, Tanzania is the place to go if you want to avoid the crowds. The Northern Circuit is the must-see route if you’re travelling to Tanzania, it includes the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater. The latter is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is home to the densest population of wildlife in Africa. Plan to visit between October and July to catch the great migration in the Serengeti. For the ultimate beach escape after your safari, journey to the blissfully remote Pemba Island in the Zanzibar Archipelago for a true cast away experience. For barefoot luxury with a social vibe stay at Fundu Lagoon or if absolute tranquillity is what you’re after try Constance Aiyana.

Zanzibar

With short safaris starting from under £2,000pp, Kenya offers good value for money and you certainly won’t feel short-changed by a trip to the Maasai Mara. This small but mighty National Reserve is famous for a reason, as the Big Five are present here all year round. Governor’s Camp has an ideal location in the quieter west of the National Park and boasts phenomenal game-viewing along the Mara River – it’s no surprise that Governor’s is Kuoni’s most popular safari lodge. We recommend a sunset hot-air balloon flight with champagne for a magical experience like no other. Kenya’s coastline provides over 300 miles of palm-fringed beaches, including the dazzling white sands of Diana, near Mombasa. Get back to basics and let the world drift away with a digital detox at Kinondo Kwetu (full disclosure: no Wi-Fi!).

On Safari in Africa

Combine a number of destinations in one epic African adventure or maybe try somewhere up-and-coming… Botswana is in the spotlight at the minute; Meghan Markle’s engagement ring came from here and it's tipped as one of the favourites for the couple's as-yet-unannounced honeymoon.

Wherever you decide to go, we can advise you every step of the way and help make your stay in Africa the holiday of a lifetime. Call us on 0191 285 9321, email holidays@travelb.co.uk or send a message to one of our personal travel experts via our online enquiry form.
