Dating back to the 16th Century, this building at the heart of historic Palma has been restored to its former splendour for the opening of this elegant new hotel in December 2018. Located on one of Palma’s most famous streets (the Calle Forn de La Glòria winds its way from Palma’s Old Quarter to the city’s seafront), the hotel provides an ideal base from which to explore the Balearic capital.

Tucked away along a winding street, you’d never expect to find the city’s largest private garden hidden behind Can Bordoy’s majestic façade. This beautiful oasis in the middle of the city contains a heated pool, where guests can swim all year round, an open-air pergola for massages and a lovely terrace, where you’ll find visitors mingling for breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner. The garden is such an integral part of the property that designers have tried to recreate some of its natural elements inside the hotel with features such as plant walls.

The hotel’s interior owes its stunning look to the vision of founder and chairman, Don Mikael Hall and the work of prize-winning architecture studio, OHLAB. The hotel’s design flawlessly combines old and new to preserve the building’s original character and protect the Balearic capital’s historical heritage, while also providing a contemporary luxury style. Restoring the building in a way that embellishes the passing of time and filling it with opulent fabrics and antique artwork, has given the hotel a deliciously decadent feel.

Of course, no great holiday is complete without great food and Can Bordoy’s gastronomic offering is just as enticing as the rest of the hotel. Chef Andrés Benitez, with over 7 years as head chef in a Michelin-starred restaurant under his belt, has created a menu of creative dishes that are both delicious and full of nutritional value. Using organic products and lots of locally grown produce, Benitez hopes his unique culinary concept will appeal to both the health-conscious diner and the most exacting gourmands.
