Travel Bureau - Destination: Canada

As vast as it is varied, Canada is an incredible destination full of diverse experiences; you can hike through the majestic Rocky Mountains, spot grizzlies in British Columbia and polar bears in Hudson Bay; enjoy Montreal’s finest French cuisine; stand by the thundering waters of Niagara Falls, watch whales swim off the Atlantic Coast and much more.

There are so many ways to explore the spectacular scenery, stunning wildlife, exciting cities and warm culture of this amazing country.

On an escorted tour you can sit back and enjoy the scenery as you let someone else take the wheel or, if you can feel the lure of the open road, a self-drive itinerary gives you great freedom to explore whether you choose a car or motorhome. Read more about the pros and cons of self-drive in our 'Ask the Expert' blog.

Alternatively, ditch the wheels altogether and take to the rails instead. Canada has a fantastic rail network and travelling by train is a wonderfully relaxed way to cross Canada’s great distances at leisure, leaving you free to enjoy the views along the way. The Canadian has comfortable sleeping births and panoramic viewing carriages while the Rocky Mountaineer will add more than a hint of luxury to your journey. Read about Kathryn’s trip on the Rocky Mountaineer.

Cruising is another popular way to explore Canada, it’s a brilliant way to combine your trip with another destination such as Alaska or the US. See amazing glaciers and all the unique wildlife of Alaska as you cruise up the Inside Passage or, set sail from Quebec to experience the famous foliage of New England in the Fall.

Choose between Eastern and Western Canada to the make the most of your time or combine both for the ultimate itinerary.

Western Canada – Alberta (Banff National Park), British Columbia (Vancouver & Whistler), Yukon & Alaska. Find out more

Eastern Canada – Ontario (Ottawa & Toronto), Québec (Montréal) & Atlantic Canada (Nova Scotia, New Foundland etc.) Find out more.

Truly breathtaking scenery. Still lakes of a startlingly vivid turquoise colour are mesmerising in their beauty. Next to them, jagged mountain tops frosted with snow and framed against the sky are awe-inspiring to behold.
Canada's weather is changeable year-round but as a rule winters are cold and snowy (perfect for skiiers!) and summers warm, especially in the south. Both spring and summer can be wet but peak summer months offer the best chance of sunshine and temperatures into the mid-high twenties. Warm clothing and a waterproof jacket are essential packing items!

Yes, the staterooms are beautifully finished, the entertainment is spectacular and there is food to die for, but it was the brilliant design of Celebrity Edge’s public spaces that really took my breath away.
