On the south side of the island in English Harbour, Nelson's Dockyard is a marina and cultural heritage site which forms part of Antigua's Nelson's Dockyard National Park. The park also includes Shirley Heights, which is famous for its spectacular views over the marina. The site is named after Admiral Horation Nelson who lived here in the Royal Naval Dockyard from 1784 to 1787. There is now a museum based in the former officers' quarters, where visitors can learn about the dockyard's history. Today Nelson's Dockyard is home to Antigua Sailing Week, during which the marina comes alive with a festival atmosphere.
